Chanel Jacket Class, Spring, 2011
Wow!  What fun this was.  I had a blast watching all my students complete and really make fabulous progress on their jackets.  What was more inspiring was the plethora of fabulous trims that they came up with, as well as how each jacket really exemplified the characteristics of each students.  I love to see my students express themselves.  Some of them are stepping out for the first time, and what they have created is just fantastic.  Here's a look at just some of them...more will be coming.

These photos are on the slide show (#11) after my Chanel Jacket.

Maisie
As you might guess, she is fairly conservative, but I loved what she did here.  She did the traditional trim and some fabulous buttons to create a jacket that will not only work well for her, but will become an heirloom in her family.

Lining
My most favorite part, besides the fit on Maisie's jacket was the lining.  It really looked like her.

Scarf & Jacket
And she even made a very lovely scarf to go with her jacket.  The total look worked and is just a classic.

Gwen
The colors of this jacket matched Gwen perfectly, and she used a lining that was wonderful and yet a color she might not normally wear.

Betty
Although Betty doesn't have her trim on yet, you can see how beautiful this jacket is already...she found only two Chanel vintage buttons, but used them to the max.  She will use another Chinese Knot type button for her cuff and pockets.

Chiffon Lining
One of the things we noticed when we were scooping out the RTW jackets was that many of them were lined in chiffon.  When Betty picked out her jacket fabric, this chiffon was just perfect.  Since Betty is a little warm-natured, this will make the jacket just that much more breathable for her.

Suzanne
For a trim, she picked this wonderful "Frenchie" looking frond-type trim that was excellent.  With her fabulous buttons, the look is total.  This trim is so strong that she will use this around the neckline and down the middle and cuff, however won't use it around the hip.

Irene
With this fabulous color, Irene picked something that looks beautiful on her and has battled through some real fabric challenges, including having the fabric literally bleed out all the color.  After she is finished, we will do some work on making that coloring fast, probably with a little dry cleaning.  (See my philosophy about dry cleaning  in my future newsletter.  You can sign up for it here.)

Barbara
This trim most suits Barbara, and she had done a superb job of executing her idea.  The ruffle was on the bias over a braided trim with a looped edging on one side.  This trim was so strong that she is only using it around her face on the collar and lapel area, on her pockets and cuffs and that's all so that it won't over-power her.  After all we want the jacket to show off Barbara not the other way around.

I was not able to get photographs of everyone's work, as some are still in the formation process, but the rest will be posted here when they are finished!!!
